Just for today I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. I will take my "luck" as it comes, and fit myself to it. - Just For Today
I just can't take it anymore? How can you keep doing this?
If you find yourself saying these or similar things, there's a chance Al-Anon can help you. Many of us find our way to Al-Anon after having tried every conceivable thing to get our loved one to stop drinking. Our life totally revolves around them. We feel lonely and frustrated, and sometimes our emotions get the best of us. Soon, we find ourselves on the edge of despair. This is often when we reach out for help.
Members of Al-Anon learn to live happily regardless of whether the alcoholic is still drinking. They learn to cope with feeling angry, guilty, overwhelmed and alone. They learn that alcoholism is a disease. Sharing experience, strength and hope shows members they are not alone. We learn how changed attitudes can aid in our recovery. We learn to put the focus on ourselves, and to reclaim our lives. Al-Anon is a powerful tool in the recovery process!
